Project Summary

PROBLEMS

Traditional trading card games (TCGs) often limit players to predefined cards, restricting creative expression and personalization. Additionally, integrating user-generated content into the game poses challenges related to balance and game integrity.

Disney Lorcana TCG enthusiasts crave a platform where they can unleash their creativity and contribute to the game's evolution while ensuring that custom cards maintain balance within the gameplay ecosystem.

GOALS

  1. Maintain Balance: Implement validation and balancing tools to ensure that custom cards adhere to game rules and contribute positively to the overall gameplay experience.

  2. Integration with Disney Lorcana TCG: Seamlessly integrate user-generated content into the official Disney Lorcana TCG ecosystem, allowing players to incorporate custom cards into their decks and participate in battles with friends and opponents.

  3. Enhanced Collaboration: Enable players to comment on changes made to custom cards, facilitating communication and collaboration among creators. Provide a history of comments to track the evolution of card designs and foster a deeper understanding of the creative process.

  4. Real-Time Comparison: Allow users to compare two custom cards side by side in real time, enabling them to analyze differences in stats, abilities, and overall effectiveness. This feature enhances strategic decision-making and allows players to fine-tune their designs for optimal gameplay performance.

Qualitative
Research

I emphasized qualitative research, aiming to gather and analyze non-numerical, subjective insights from users' experiences. This involved using open-ended questions and communication methods to understand users' perspectives.

Techniques like user interviews, empathy mapping, and personas were employed to gather rich data. Specifically, I conducted in-depth user interviews with 2 end users to gain valuable insights into their gaming experiences and preferences.

Empathy Map

During the defining stage, I used empathy mapping and user personas to understand how our users think, feel, and act. By sorting their answers into different categories, I could connect better with their experiences. These personas helped me see things from our users' perspective and make designs that fit their needs. This step made sure our designs were based on what real people want, making them more useful and friendly for everyone.

MID FIDELITY WIREFRAMES

I created mid-fidelity wireframes, which are more detailed than simple sketches but not as polished as final designs, following the user flow as a guide. These wireframes show more specific elements and layout choices for each screen, helping to refine the design further. Certain changes were made in Ul design after this process.
